Head’s Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

In the run up to the end of the school year, we have had another busy week of fun events and trips in celebration of our wonderful community and all the hard work students have demonstrated this academic year.

On Tuesday, we welcomed Year 10 parents and students to meet our Sixth Form Team and learn more about life at Highbury Fields after GCSEs. We have also had a variety of trips this week including the Geography field trip to Seaford and the Year 7 PGL trip.

These excellent enrichment opportunities continue right up to the end of term; as we publish this newsletter, most students will be on school trips across London, as a reward for their efforts this year.

SIXTH FORM SUCCESS

year 10 – Showcase & BBQ

On Tuesday, Year 10 students and parents attended the Sixth Form Showcase and BBQ in celebration of the end of their mock examinations.

Paired with great food and sunshine, our Sixth Form Team enjoyed getting to know Year 10 students and parents in advance of their Sixth Form applications next year.

Sixth Form Taster Day

After the BBQ, Year 10s spent the following day at the Sixth Form Centre to get a taste of Sixth Form life at Highbury Fields. Students experienced A level taster lessons and got a flavour of the independence Sixth Formers have in their study periods and enrichment sessions.

Year 12 Paris Trip: End of Year Celebration

To mark the end of a busy year and the completion of their mock exams, Year 12 students enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Paris. The group explored the city’s rich culture and history, including a visit to the stunning Musée d’Orsay, where they admired world-famous works by the likes of Monet and Van Gogh. They also took in the iconic Eiffel Tower and viewed the beautiful Notre-Dame Cathedral. The trip was a wonderful opportunity to unwind, bond with classmates, and experience learning beyond the classroom. A fantastic way to celebrate their hard work and look ahead to the final year of Sixth Form!

Trips and Enrichment Activities

Year 7 PGL Adventures

Year 7 students had an amazing time on their PGL residential trip last weekend, filled with adventure, teamwork, and fun. It was a fantastic way to end the year, with plenty of laughter, new experiences, and unforgettable memories. Staff were proud of how students challenged themselves and supported each other throughout the trip.

Rowing Trip a Splashing Success!

Last week, a group of Year 8 and 9 students took part in an exciting Rowing on Water experience at the London Aquatic Centre in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, led by London Youth Rowing.

For many, it was their first time rowing on open water — and they took to it brilliantly! Students quickly picked up the basics, showing fantastic teamwork, resilience, and a real drive to improve. Friendly races brought out their competitive spirit, while problem-solving and communication were key to success on the water.

A huge thank you to London Youth Rowing and our staff team for supporting such a memorable experience!

Year 12 Geography Trip to Seaford

‘For our A level geography coursework, we took a trip to Seaford to assess the effectiveness of coastal management strategies put in place. During the visit, we measured the beach profile and had the opportunity to stay overnight, which gave us more time to collect data and appreciate the coastal scenery and landforms in Seaford, including stacks, stumps and caves along the chalky cliff. This trip was a good time to collect data for our coursework but also enjoy the fresh sea air and make some great memories along the way.’

community culture celebration evening

On Monday 7th July, Highbury Fields celebrated our diverse community with our annual Culture Day.

Students came to school wearing clothes that represent their culture, many waving the flag – or flags – of the countries they identify with. It was brilliant to see students jump at this chance to showcase and celebrate their heritages.

On the same evening, we welcome many students and parents/carers for our Community Culture Celebration Evening. We saw a great turnout for the event and guests enjoyed a variety of performances celebrating the arts and cultures of many members of our school community. Thank you to all performers for your hardwork in making the evening a success!

Bright Futures Summer timetable

Bright Futures Outreach is here to help families facing life’s ups and downs – from housing or money worries to parenting challenges.
